lyrics

I see the autumn,
I see the falling leaves,
leaves falling dead,
dead from their host.
Is man so brave?

We too will fall.
We are leaves to this earth,
grown and shorn;
thinned each year,
grown again every moment.
We hope for a seed,
we watch of the cycle.
Every cycle, a cycle.

Toil until death;
Die so others may toil too.
Make room for the future,
For we were dead when we were born.
As are all others,
as are all things.
From the first worm
to the final roach.

And even beyond the living,
the fire beneath stone,
thought infinite and great,
will eventually extinguish.
It too will come to ash.
A cold rock,
drawing another circle.

And as matter does,
born into this dance,
collides and creates.
Another spring will flourish,
to turn again to decay.
